I’m incredibly behind on my favorite food finds for June! Life has really caught up with me lately. I had forgotten that I had yet to share what I discovered almost a month and a half ago. For June’s Favorite Food Finds, a lot of my discoveries came from sharing my food experiences with friends. With birthday celebrations and get togethers with friends, trying and discovering new food finds was really fun and delicious!
I made a goal at the beginning of the year to try new cuisine from different cultures. Being a creature of habit, I don’t always adventure outside of my comfort zone. But, sometimes the new and different is just that; new and different. I got a taste of South African cuisine at Amawele’s South African Kitchen in SOMA. I also got to tasting Spanish inspired cheese balls at The Commissary and lamb merguez sausage at Revéille Coffee.
But at the end of the day, I admit that the staples in playbook are what I love the most. Greg and I took a field trip out to Sushi Sam’s in San Mateo where we feasted on fresh fish, including a white shrimp nigiri that was amazing. To prep our tastebuds for Lima, we also ventured back to La Mar Cebecheria to get down on some ceviche. The ceviches were great, but surprisingly (or not) decided we loved the wagyu beef nigiri the most.
As always, check out my Yelp reviews for more in-depth reviews and photos from my dining experiences of some of the places mentioned here.
